Camping & Outdoor Adventures
The Pavilion’s goal is to teach visitors that invertebrates matter and that it’s our responsibility to protect their habitats, which are increasingly threatened. The Pavilion hosts rainforest yoga, spring camps, Living Lights, and cub scout days, among other fun events and experiences. It also has chrysalis cameras, a live animal cam, and interactive daily programs.
The Butterfly Pavilion has a few outdoor areas where guests can eat lunch and there are several tables and grassy spots that are available during inclement weather. The venue offers a full cafe and a gift shop as well.
There’s a lot to do in Westminster, especially as the city is less than an hour’s drive from both Denver and Boulder. The city’s downtown development, the Westminster Promenade, contains restaurants, hotel facilities, and performance areas, and it’s surrounded by hiking and biking trails like the Big Dry Creek Trail that leads directly to the Butterfly Pavilion. The city also has a new library and community center with an amazing art collection and a three-rink ice arena.
Restaurants & Shops
As the first stand-alone, Association of Zoos and Aquariums-accredited non-profit invertebrate zoo in the world, Butterfly Pavilion is a leading force for connecting people to invertebrates. In addition to offering exhibits and educational programs, the facility conducts research for innovative solutions in species and habitat conservation worldwide.
Visitors can hold a tarantula, learn about rainforest preservation, and see butterflies emerging from their chrysalises at this popular attraction. The facility also hosts various events throughout the year, including a magical Living Lights experience from mid-December through early January.
The Early Bird Restaurant serves meals made from scratch and has a healthy menu. Its owners are chefs who come from Poland, and the venue also has a bar.
